As Coco Chanel has been reported to say, a girl should be two things; classy and fabulous. Now, we all know how to be fabulous, as we all are. But how can we make ourselves more classy? When we take some time to change a few little things, it can open up a lot more things to us. But don’t get me wrong, being classy isn’t about being stuck up or haughty. It is the idea that you cultivate respect, for those around you, and that includes yourself too. Here are some steps to guide you.
Avoid Becoming a Fashion Disaster
Getting caught up in trends and ‘fast fashion’ is a quick way to get confused about your style and make you unsure about what suits you the best. While there is nothing wrong with enjoying fashion and clothes, think about choosing the styles that will flatter you and suit you, rather than just because it is on trend. The ‘cold shoulder’ look is big at the moment, but it isn’t going to suit everyone, for example. Start to create a capsule wardrobe, full of neutral colors, flattering styles, and fine jewelry, much like these Tacori Engagement Rings, so that you don’t become a slave to fashion and particular trends. You don’t have to spend a lot but it can be worth it.
Excellent presentation is half of the battle when it comes to being classier. But you need to know what kind of vibe or presentation you want to give off. Being comfortable in your own skin starts first, and the rest will follow. Wear clothing and accessories that you feel comfortable in and things that flatter. They will help you to have a confidence about you that you can’t buy. So learn to love yourself and your natural classy beauty will shine through.
You Can Never Be Overdressed
Oscar Wilde was reported to have quoted that you can never be overdressed or overeducated. So that is something to think about. If you’re unsure of what to wear to an event, then go for the smarter or more overdressed version. It is going to be better to be more formal than it is to be less formal. Check the dress codes and go along with it. Don’t try to be too controversial by wearing sneakers when the dress code stated that it was smart dress, for instance.
Posture can be something that we all have trouble with. Working on computers and most of us having a pretty sedentary lifestyle can mean we are hunched over and have bad posture. But try to be more conscious of your posture, especially when you are out in public. Lift your head high and roll your shoulders back. It can be just the thing that you need to give yourself a confidence boost.
Have you got any other tips or tricks that you would share that have worked for you? The key is being confident in yourself and the rest will follow.
